Adelaide Hoodless
Parkland Rose(1973)

Adelaide Hoodles has been a favorite of ours for many years now. She was bred by our Parkland Division of Agriculture Canada and released in honour of the 75th anniversary of the founder of the Women's Institute Adelaide Hoodless.
To them and her we tip our hats!

One of the first really true red hardy shrub roses, Adelaide boasts of large clusters of deep red, semi double, three inch blooms. She repeats faithfully in July and September. The plant grows to a little over three feet tall, so she's small enough for a place in anyones garden. Plants are vigorous and quite healthy. We don't seem to get a great deal of blackspot on her although it has been reported in other areas. Plant her in full sun and lots of air circulation and she'll be fine.

On her own roots Adelaide Hoodless can be hardy to zone 2 with some dieback.
We have very little here in our Halifax, zone 5 gardens. parentage: a cross between the florabunda "Fire King and a hardy seedling Agrigculture Canada developed from R. Arkansana"J.W.Fargo" and Assiniboine.
