Nicolas
Explorer Series Rose(1996)

Nicolas is one of the newer hardy shrub roses bred for our famous Explorer Series.
A compact plant the grows only 29" high and wide.It repeats very well over summer
with small clusters of semi-souble, red flowers. Blooms have between 18-20 petals.
Nicolas is very usefull for gardens that do not have alot of space. It's very healthy with
little or no blackspot or mildew!

Complex parentage: a cross between the breeding line derived from (Queen
Elizabeth, Arthur Bell, a double red unnamed clone for Robert Simonet and Von
Scharnhorst) and a line derived from (R. Kordesii and Applejack).

On its own roots Nicolas can be hardy to zone 3 with some dieback.
It has been in our Halifax,Zone 5 gardens for four years now with no
dieback once so ever.
