J.F. Quadra
Explorer Climber/Shrub (1994)
We've been waiting along time to get a
hardy, very beautiful climber for the northern
gardens & finally we have one.
Quadra is from Agriculture Canada's Explorer
Series of roses. It was released in 1994 and has
been very slow to make it's way onto the
market. But now it's here!
Naturally growing around 6'on it's own roots,
this rose makes a wonderful hardy, low
climber.Its very double, deep red,
not
burgundy, blossoms are accompanied by the
wonder burgundy tinged new foliage. The 3.5
inch blooms are born in clusters of 3-4 with
each rose having an average of 66 petals.
Shorter inward petals give the rose an
"old rose
look"
.Very vigorous & healthy plants.
Hardy to zone 3. We like it's fragrance.
Repeats very well.
A great rose for people who wish for a hardy
true red climber in cold climates.
parentage: a cross form Queen Elizabeth,
Arthur Bell & a double red unnamed clone
from R. Simonet & a line derived form R
kordesii, Red Dawn & Suzanne.
Sold both bud grafted and
1 year-own roots
