Hardy Shrub Roses

Bonica'82 (1985) Clusters of double(40+ petals) of medium pink with lighter edges. Reminds one of a china rose. Perfection! Blooms contentiously and abundantly. Little fragrance. Fairly healthy foliage. Can have some blackspot in really wet conditions. Loves full sun! Rose grows 3" tall and up to 6' wide. Some dieback in zone 5 but comes back with a vengeance.

Royal Bonica: (1994)sport of Bonica'82"Same lovely rose bush with the exception that her blooms are larger and a darker pink. Vigorous, shiny deep green foliage. Great for mass planting.. Zone 5

Leverkusen (Kordes 1954) In warmer climates this can be used as a climber. In Zone 5 it is a nice bush rose. Long pointed buds open into high centered light yellow blooms in small sprays. . Lovely fruity fragrance. Glossy, deep green foliage. Repeats well. 4' x3' wide. Zone 5.

Raubritter (Kordes 1936) What a different shrub rose this is. A real sight to be seen when in bloom! Masses of very cupped silver pink blooms in clusters appear to be almost paper like. Each bloom lasts and lasts. Bush growth is somewhat procumbent and spreading. Foliage is medium green and canes have small thorns. Once blooming. 3' x 5'wide. Zone 5

Harrison Yellow (1830) Hyb. Rosa Foetida. Some call this the yellow rose of Texas. Very hardy and disease resistant especially for a yellow rose! Small, semi double blooms appear in clusters in mass profusion in early June. Striking hardy, yellow bush. 6' tall x 5' wide. Zone 3

Karl Forrester (Kordes 1931) A lovely rose with a wonderful fragrance. Large double blossoms of cream color in small clusters. Smooth canes and olive green, healthy foliage. Repeats in fall. Hardy to zone 5. Nice rose for back of perennial boarder. 4' x 4'

Scarlet Meideland ( 1987) Clusters of small gorgeous red blooms adorn this spreading bush. Shinny deep green foliage. Great for mass plantings where lots of color & blooms are wanted. Blooms continuously. No fragrance. Spreads 5' grows 3' tall. Zone 5.

Alba Meideland(1988)Same growth habit and bloom types as Scarlet Meidiland but it's blooms are white. The two are quite striking together! Great also for banks!

The Fairy (1932) Clusters of mall pompom like blooms appear in great profusion right up until frost on this very thorny bush. Healthy deep green, glossy foliage. This is a wonderful rose for perennial boarders or foundation planting. Grows more wide than tall. 3' tall by 4' wide. Zone 4. Some winterkill at times but springs back well. Needs full sun!
